Boudoir photos with a twist...

Everyone, its time to get a

I've noticed that it is rather commonplace for a bride to add a special portrait session in with their wedding photography. Enter...the boudoir session. Brides don some sexy outfits, have photographs taken, and present them to their groom as a wedding gift. Very cute (or should I say...scandalous...)!

I've been thinking about this myself, and if I would want to do something like this for Justin. One day while browsing through my Google Reader, I came across a boudoir session. I shifted my laptop over to Justin and asked him what he thought. He furrowed his brow a bit and then asked me, "what would I do with them???"

Fair enough, I guess. He does have a good point; it isn't like he would be taking around the photos and showing them off to his friends (I hope...). But nevertheless, I still like the idea. However, since Justin didn't exactly sound all that thrilled about the traditional boudoir photos (I know...what is wrong with him???), I wanted to ponder an alternative that would perhaps give the same effect.

And I was shopping for some new swimwear for the summer season, I had an epiphany. Why hadn't I thought of this sooner??? If you've been following me from the beginning, you might recall that Justin and I first met each other at the beach. Well, what better location for a "boudoir" session? I mean, I already know that Justin doesn't mind seeing me in a bikini: he's snuck a few photos here and there when we've been at the beach...

So...instead of donning some sexy lingerie, I'd wear a pretty little two piece number, and maybe take some pictures like this...

Following photos from Victoria's Secret:

Now...the only questions would be - 1: who the heck is going to make me look sexy like that (I am good at "cute," but "sexy" still evades me)? And 2: can my photographer photoshop in some gorgeous abs for me? Haha...

So, what do you think of a "nontraditional" boudoir session at the beach? Are you planning to/have you done a boudoir session to present to your SO? How did you decide what you'd wear?

  1. I did a boudoir session and made an album out of the pictures. I'm going to give it to him next weekend while we're on our honeymoon. He knows I did the pictures (I wanted him to know where I was for my safety because I hadn't met the photographer before) and I sent him a sneak peek while he was away on military orders. I think he's going to love the book. I'm going to put a whole review when we get back from our honeymoon with his reactions.

I like the idea of a boudoir session at the beach. Try to find a photographer that knows how to do beach sessions as well as boudoir sessions. I think that will really help you because they are used to the environment as well as making you look and feel sexy.

  2. I am getting ready to do a boudoir session and wrote a previous post about it. Your idea is cool and completely unique! Love it! You go girl!

PS I am enjoying following your blog and would love if you could follow mine too. I am a brand new blogger.

  3. I think that's a really fun idea! I've been toying with the idea of boudoir photos, but I'm not sure what my Mister would do with them, either. Also, I don't know if I want to spend that much money on something that would make him smile, but would otherwise be kind of silly. But if money were no object, I'd totally do it! It seems like such a fun idea! And I LOVE the idea of doing them on the beach :-)

  4. Ryan had the exact same "what would I do with them" reaction! I think your idea is very clever, I can't wait to see how they turn out!

  5. you are hot. you dont need someone to teach you to be sexy. it is inside yourself.

  6. That's such a great idea. I really like it. You'd be surprised how photogs are able to get the 'sexy' out of you. I was pretty shocked by some of our e-pics.

Mr Fix It is not huge on sexy photos of me as he agrees that he wouldn't be able to do anything with them and he 'has the real thing' already so what's the point? :) I still love the idea though!

I love reading your comments, please feel free to leave me one! Thanks! :)
